In 2016, Cosmic Stash introduced the framework that would define Jazz Dispensary: a compilation built on groove-driven selections, flow-focused sequencing, and crate-dug discoveries. Released as a 4-LP box set for Record Store Day, it organized tracks into four themed “blends”—Soul Diesel, Purple Funk, OG Kush, and Astral Travelin’—drawing from across the Prestige, Milestone, and Fantasy archives. This inaugural release set the vibe-enhancing tone for Jazz Dispensary from the outset.
Now, Cosmic Stash: HIGH Lights returns to that source material in a new format. Arriving Monday 4/20, the limited-edition 1-LP (just 4,800 worldwide) will be available via Record Store Day—exclusively in the U.S., with select international retailers carrying limited stock. The release compiles selections from each of the original box set’s four blends into a single sequence. Pressed on eye-catching four-color splatter vinyl, the U.S. edition includes a “prescription” insert and is housed in a giant “exit bag.”
In tandem with the release, more than 180 record stores will host official listening events on and around 4/20 across the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, and beyond. These gatherings center on the record as a shared experience. Fans can pick up a copy of the record, enjoy an extended mix of curated tunes, receive exclusive Jazz Dispensary merch, and enter for a chance to win other Jazz Dispensary goodies.

CURATION AT THE CENTER
From the beginning, Cosmic Stash was defined by how it was put together. The four blends grouped recordings by feel, pulling from across multiple catalogs to build distinct listening paths within the set.
HIGH Lights condenses that structure into a single LP while keeping the emphasis on selection and sequence. The tracklist moves across jazz, funk, and soul recordings from the Prestige, Milestone, and Fantasy catalogs, with artists including Patrice Rushen, Funk, Inc., David Axelrod, The Blackbyrds, and Rusty Bryant.
