Dave Grusin’s score to the beloved 1985 adventure The Goonies returns to vinyl on November 6 with two new 1-LP pressings, bringing the music behind the Goonies’ unforgettable treasure hunt back to the turntable.
The release will be available on classic black vinyl, alongside a Varèse Sarabande-exclusive Goon Dock Grey pressing limited to just 300 copies. Both editions feature Grusin’s signature cues from the film, capturing the danger, discovery, humor, and heart that follow the young adventurers from the Goon Docks into a maze of booby-trapped tunnels and hidden caverns.

FOLLOW THE MAP
From the imagination of Steven Spielberg and directed by Richard Donner, The Goonies follows a group of young friends who discover One-Eyed Willy’s treasure map and set out on a last-ditch adventure to save their homes.
Grusin’s score is along for every step of the journey. Rather than simply sitting behind the action, the music shifts with it, moving between suspense, excitement, comedy, and wonder as the Goonies get further underground and closer to the treasure.
That versatility makes the score especially fun away from the screen. It plays like an adventure in its own right, bringing back the film’s sense that the next trap, secret passage, or discovery could be waiting around any corner.
NEVER SAY DIE
Four decades after The Goonies first sent Mikey, Mouth, Data, Chunk, and the rest of the gang searching for One-Eyed Willy’s treasure, the film remains a favorite for generations of movie fans.
With the score returning on black vinyl and the limited Goon Dock Grey edition, this new pressing puts Dave Grusin’s music back at the center of the adventure and offers soundtrack collectors another way to revisit a defining piece of The Goonies.
