While Nickel Creek’s earlier recordings showed off their musical prowess, the trio consider their self-titled 2000 release to be their official debut. Released on Sugar Hill records and produced by Alison Krauss, the album incorporates elements of rock, alternative, jazz, and even classical. Featuring both traditional and original material, Nickel Creek showcases the band’s unique style as well as their deft songwriting skills; highlights including “The Lighthouse’s Tale” and “When You Come Back Down.”

This Side solidifies Nickel Creek's position as the single most original and inventive bluegrass band to emerge in the early 2000s. The album, produced by Alison Krauss, topped the Billboard Top Bluegrass and Top Independent charts upon release and went Gold in the U.S., winning the band a GRAMMY® award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Highlights include “Speak,” “Smoothie Song” and “This Side,” plus a cover of Pavement’s “Spit on a Stranger.

As Nickel Creek integrated more rock and pop elements into their music, they went in a new direction with their 2005 album – enlisting producers Eric Valentine and Tony Berg. Why Should The Fire Die? features original material such as “When in Rome,” “Helena” and “Jealous Moon. It also includes a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Tomorrow Is a Long Time. The  Billboard Top 20 album earned two GRAMMY® nominations; Best Contemporary Folk Album and Best Country Instrumental Performance ("Scotch & Chocolate"). This 180-gram 2-LP set was cut at 45RPM and mastered ALL-ANALOG from the original tapes.

These 180-gram LP reissues were cut at 45RPM from the original high-res. sources.
